Winter is one of the most wonderful times of the year. This is due to not only the Yuletide celebrations, but it’s also the perfect time to start planning for bikini season. If you’re finished nursing your baby and you’re done with childbearing, this is certainly the best time to consider a breast augmentation as part of your mommy makeover.
While there is no “wrong time” for breast augmentation, it’s certainly more advantageous to get it during the cold season. Below are four reasons that explain why:
- It’s easy to hide surgical garments.
For safety and faster healing time, we require most of our plastic surgery patients to wear surgical garments in the first few weeks of recovery. Mommy makeover procedures are not an exemption. Wearing this type of clothing ensures that wounds will close and the breast implants will settle in its proper place. However, wearing such can be uncomfortable during the warm months. When the procedure is done in the winter, it’ll be easy to hide the garments without experiencing any discomfort.
- Scars will have enough protection.
It’s common knowledge that the sun’s harsh ultraviolet rays are harmful to the skin. Exposure will not only impede the healing of scars, it will also cause hyperpigmentation, which can make skin tone look uneven. As the sun in the winter is less harsh and overall there is a lower UV Index, the chances of damaging your post-surgery skin are slim.
- You are more likely to stay indoors.
The cold weather is the perfect excuse to hibernate inside your home, bundled up in blankets as your body heals. You don’t need to reason out to friends and family why you prefer to stay at home instead of going out with them for drinks or casual get-togethers.
- Your body will be ready for summer.
Like the rest of the mommy makeover procedures, breast augmentation will require at least two weeks for recovery. However, it takes longer than that for the final results to appear. With that being said, getting a breast augmentation will give your body plenty of time to heal, and the implants to settle into a more natural position. By the time summer rolls in, the scars will be less visible, and you’ll be ready for the beach season.
