Your Path to Radiant Beauty

At Burt and Will Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, we draw upon a wide range of therapies to keep your skin looking youthful, smooth and radiant. One of these is microneedling, an excellent option for our patients who want to improve skin texture, get rid of scarring, or bring back that even complexion. It’s a quick in-office procedure with limited downtime, and can complement other treatments you may be doing.

How Microneedling Naperville Works

Our microneedling devices use tiny needles that quickly penetrate the skin and create small channels. This stimulates the deeper layers of the skin to release an abundance of growth factors for skin remodeling and to build collagen – an important substance that gives your skin its natural, smooth appearance. The small columns then close up over a few hours, but the skin environment has been changed for the better. While improvements start to happen immediately, the skin’s rebuilding process will continue for months to come. The beauty is this procedure is done with limited damage to the epidermis, or top layer of the skin, resulting in little down time and decreased risk of side effects.

Aging skin

Many changes in the skin and structures of the face happen as we age. One component is your collagen starts to thin out, contributing to the wrinkles and textural changes that we feel. Microneedling directly addresses this aspect by stimulating the growth of collagen – helping make the skin look and feel smooth and firm.

Improving skin tone, pore size, and loose skin

Even in our youth our skin can have unwanted variations or start demonstrating early signs of age and sun damage, showing up as subtle laxity in areas of the face, fine lines, changes in pore sizes, or uneven complexion. Microneedling can help with these and give your skin the gentle boost it needs to help you feel refreshed.

Decreasing scars

Another area where microneedling thrives is with facial scarring. From injury related scars to different types of acne scarring, microneedling can help. The needles quite literally break up the components of the scar, and our body’s wound response helps to lay down more normal skin in its place. The irregularities on the skin surface then gradually evens out after the treatments.

Microneedling with PRP

While microneedling alone has excellent results, the addition of platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, dials everything up a notch. The PRP is applied after microneedling and enters into the skin via the channels created. While your body is releasing growth factors from within from the microneedling treatment, PRP adds to this by bombarding your skin with growth factor from the outside. As a result, the skin bounces back more quickly after treatments and you get more out of each session.
