Breast augmentation surgery and breast lift surgery are normally two separate procedures. Breast augmentation involves increasing the size of the breasts, while breast lift repositions the breasts higher on the chest. However, as you may know from your own experience, a woman’s breasts may simultaneously begin to sag and lose their volume, in which case both procedures may need to be performed to achieve the desired effect. This is why Naperville female plastic surgeon, Dr. Tripti Burt performs breast augmentation with breast lift surgery.
Breast lift with breast implants simultaneously lifts the breasts to a higher position on the chest and restores the volume. This delivers the best aesthetic results for women who have breasts that are both droopy and deflated.
Are You a Candidate for Breast Augmentation with Lift?
If you have deflated, sagging breasts that are making you self-conscious about your femininity, then this is an excellent treatment option for you. During your consultation, Dr. Burt will discuss all of your implant options with you and confirm your candidacy for this surgery based on your medical history, aesthetic goals and other factors such as breast anatomy and tissue availability.
Breast Augmentation with Lift
This procedure is performed under general anesthesia at an accredited outpatient facility or local hospital. You will be able to go home the same day, and you should arrange for transportation. During surgery, Dr. Burt creates the surgical incisions and lifts the breasts — including the nipples and areola — to a higher position. Once the desired position has been achieved, she uses the same incisions to insert silicone or saline breast implants. Once the implants are secured in place, Dr. Burt closes the surgical incisions with sutures. Depending on your unique anatomy, Dr. Burt will select from one of several incision types after deciding which one is best for you. Prior to the procedure she will explain each step in great detail, including the type of scarring you should expect, as well as the recovery process and final results.
What to Expect During Recovery
Because you have undergone two procedures in one, your recovery is very important for best results. You will be given detailed instructions on how to care for yourself and your incisions for the first seven to 10 days, during which time you will stay at home. Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising is normal and will improve over time. Dr. Burt will see you on a regular basis to ensure you are healing properly. You will most likely be able to return to work within a couple of weeks, with some restrictions. Final results will be achieved within a couple of months as the breasts settle into their new shape and position. This is an outpatient procedure that can be performed at our onsite surgery center in Plainfield.
