Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a safe inhalant anesthetic used for its anti-anxiety effect. Also known as “laughing gas,” it is widely used in many clinical settings, such as at dental visits, during labor and delivery, and during ambulatory transport to the emergency room.

In the setting cosmetic plastic surgery, it is used as an anxiolytic and pain reliever during in-office procedures. Nitrous oxide can provide a very comfortable experience for procedures done in office, avoiding the recovery time from general anesthesia in the operative setting.
